Legal Connect India Service LLP ('we', 'us') is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal data in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Information We Collect
- Identity & contact details: name, email, phone number, and city — when you register, file a complaint, or submit an enquiry form (including 'Hire an Advocate' and 'Talk to a Lawyer').
- Complaint & case details: information you provide about your dispute, the opposite party, amounts involved, and documents you upload.
- Identity verification (KYC) data: where you choose to verify your identity, government ID details (such as Aadhaar/PAN), ID document images, a live photograph, and face-match/liveness results, processed through our verification partner.
- Payment information: processed via secure third-party payment gateways (e.g. Cashfree). We do not store full card numbers or UPI credentials. Wallet balances and transaction records are maintained on the platform.
- Technical & device data: IP address, browser and operating system, device type, and usage data — collected automatically when you use the website, submit a form, or sign in. This helps us secure accounts, prevent spam and fraud, and understand how the platform is used.
- Communications: emails we send you, records of calls and follow-ups made by our team regarding your matter, WhatsApp messages exchanged with our official number, and messages exchanged on the platform.
- Consultation call recordings: Live consultation calls between you and an advocate are routed through our official telephone numbers and recorded (see 'Consultation Calls, Recording & Number Privacy' below).
- Phone verification: when you verify your mobile number, we send a one-time code by WhatsApp or an automated voice call and store the fact and time of verification — not the code itself.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To register, process, and track your consumer complaint or case.
- To connect you with appropriate advocates and provide our services, including drafting and dispatch of legal notices and court filings.
- To verify your identity where required (KYC), and to protect payouts and money held on the platform.
- To send confirmations, updates, reminders, and service-related communications by email, SMS, or phone.
- To secure the platform: detect spam, fraud, duplicate or abusive submissions, and unauthorised access (using IP address and device data).
- To improve our platform and comply with legal obligations.
3. Analytics, Cookies & Session Recording
We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the website, including Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Clarity may record anonymised interaction data such as clicks, scrolling, and page navigation to help us improve usability; text you type into forms is masked by default and is not captured in recordings.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit some features.
4. Consultation Calls, Recording & Number Privacy
Live consultation calls are placed and connected through our own telephony system: both you and the advocate receive the call from our official numbers, and neither party's personal phone number is disclosed to the other.
These calls are recorded for quality assurance, your protection, and dispute resolution. Recordings are stored securely and are accessible only to the advocate who handled your consultation and to authorised Legal Connect India staff. They are retained in line with our Data Retention section and are never published or sold.
Automated service calls (for example, appointment or payout updates and voice one-time codes) are informational readouts and are not recorded conversations. You can opt out of voice alerts from your account settings; verification and consultation-connection calls are part of the service you request.
5. AI-Assisted Drafting
Some features offer optional AI-assisted writing (for example, improving a complaint description or preparing a first draft of a legal document). When you use these features, the relevant text and case details are processed by our AI service provider (Anthropic) solely to generate the draft. AI output is always a suggestion that you (or your advocate) review and edit — it is not legal advice, and no AI-generated document is sent anywhere without human review.
6. Public Forum Publication
If you choose to publish your complaint on the Legal Connect Forum, the complaint details you provide (including the company name and your description) become publicly visible and may be indexed by search engines. Your phone number, email, and full name remain private — only your first name and city are displayed. You can unpublish your complaint from your dashboard at any time; search engines may take time to reflect removal.
7. Legal Basis & Consent
We process your personal data based on the consent you provide when submitting information, and as necessary to perform the services you request. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limitations.
8. Sharing of Information
- Advocates and legal professionals engaged for your matter — to the extent needed to act on it.
- Service providers who help operate the platform: payment gateways, identity verification (Didit), email/SMS delivery, WhatsApp messaging (Meta, via the WhatsApp Business Platform), telephony and calling infrastructure for consultation and service calls, cloud hosting and storage (Google Cloud), analytics (Google, Microsoft), and AI drafting (Anthropic). Each receives only the data needed for its function.
- Authorities, courts, or regulators where required by law.
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and role-based permissions, to protect your data. Money held on the platform (escrow and wallet balances) is released only through controlled, verified processes. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request erasure of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Unpublish a complaint you previously published on the public forum.
- Withdraw consent and lodge a grievance with us or the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our services and to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Records connected to legal matters, payments, and identity verification may be retained for longer periods where the law requires it.
12. Children
Our services are intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The 'last updated' date above reflects the latest revision; material changes will be highlighted on the platform.
14. Grievance Officer
For any privacy concerns or to exercise your rights, contact our Grievance Officer at info@legalconnect.help. We will respond within the timelines prescribed under applicable law.
